Dear Members and Friends of Mt. Calvary:
The Lord is good! He is helping us carry out the mission of our new Camp Restore Detroit (CRD) ministry - to demonstrate our Christian hope while working together to restore our Detroit community.
At the time of Mt. Calvary's 95th anniversary in 2017, we told you about this new ministry and are so excited that it has really "taken off" this year! We've had more than 25 groups of campers stay at Mt. Calvary for a total of approximately 2,000 "camper nights" (one camper = one night). They have accomplished so much - helping homeowners in the area with projects, helping clean up blight in our area, working at nursing homes and missions for at risk children, plus helping with numerous Vacation Bible School programs at Mt. Calvary and our sister churches! So many opportunities to share God's amazing love with those who are in need! You are invited to our first annual Camp Restore Detroit Fundraiser Dinner on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This event will be held at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 23801 Kelly Road, Eastpointe, MI. Your donation of $25 will include a dinner and entertainment . There will also be a Silent Auction as part of the fundraiser with many items that may be of interest to you. The ticket price includes $10 toward the dinner and a $15 donation to CRD.
There may be some construction taking place on the second floor of Mt . Calvary at this time for safety upgrades required by the City of Detroit . If you would be interested in a tour of the new CRD dorm rooms, etc. before the dinner, we will offer those from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on October 14th. If you are interested in a tour, please indicate so on the reservation form. As you know, it is a short trip from Mt. Calvary down Kelly Road to St. Thomas .
So that we may adequately plan for this event, please fill out the attached form (below) and return it to Mt. Calvary by Monday, October 1, 2018. If you prefer, you may call the church office at 313.527.3366 to make your reservation.
