CAMP RESTORE DONATION We received a donation to Camp Restore from Hope Lutheran Church, Warren. We thank them for their tremendous support, not only monetarily but all of the hours of work that they have done in our building for this vital ministry! LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL 75th ANNIVERSARY The LHSA is celebrating 75 years of local Christian education with choral and instrumental music, performed by the choirs and bands of Lutheran North, Northwest, and Westland at Concordia University, Ann Arbor next Sunday, March 3. Before the concert, join in a complimentary wine & cheese reception at 2:30 p.m. with the concert following at 4:00. No ticket or RSVP is required. COUNCIL OF LUTHERAN WOMEN LUNCHEON REMINDER - The final deadline for making a reservation for the Council of Lutheran Women Luncheon taking place on Tuesday, March 19 is Friday, March 8. Reservations made by that date will be guaranteed seating with the initial Mt. Calvary/ Camp Restore Detroit reservation. We still have some room on our second table. Contact Lucie Witte if you've not yet made a reservation but would like to attend. The cost for the reservation is $29 and includes a delicious meal at Burton Manor in Livonia, and a contribution to support the Lutheran Food Banks in Detroit and the Scholarship Program for seminarians from the member congregations of the Council plus two female students at Concordia University-Ann Arbor who are preparing for full-time church work. Come and help us honor Elizabeth Parrish as our 2019 Honoree. The purpose of this annual luncheon is to highlight the volunteer efforts of women throughout our Detroit area. Come help us celebrate what is accomplished through the combined efforts of many! SCRIP NEWS Due to extra donations that have been received by our Food Bank, it has been decided that the SCRIP profits for the next two months will be directed to help send two of our confirmands to the LCMS Youth Gathering this summer. Please consider making some orders for SCRIP to help build this Youth Gathering account - wherever you do some of your shopping (Target, GFS, Meijer, Sam's Club and Walmart) is a good place to start. Your favorite restaurants are also a good choice as they tend to offer higher rebate percentages. See Lucie Witte for a current order form or to place an order. Orders placed on Sunday will be available for delivery by mid-week or the following Sunday if preferred. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
The LWML Greater Detroit Zone observance of the World Day of Prayer will be held this Friday, March 1 at Peace Lutheran Church, 15700 East Warren at Balfour in Detroit. The Service begins at 10 a.m. and will be led by the LWML Greater Detroit Zone Counselor, Richard Robinson. Following the Service, there will be a potluck lunch. Please bring a dish to pass. THANK YOU! All of those associated with “Gifts For All God’s Children” want to give a big “THANK YOU” to Bill Buchanan for the wonderful luncheon that he provided! Also, special thanks to everyone who brought a dessert or helped out with parking lot security. COUNCIL OF LUTHERAN WOMEN LUNCHEON Lucie Witte is collecting reservations for the Council of Lutheran Women Luncheon on Tuesday, March 19 at Burton Manor in Livonia where we will be honoring Elizabeth Parrish as our "Woman of the Year". The ticket cost is $29 and is payable by cash or check (payable to: MT. CALVARY). This year's featured speaker will be Gayle Sommerfeld, one of the founders of MOST Ministries (Mission Opportunities Short Term). Gayle has written a book about her experience with founding MOST, entitled "Beyond Sight". As this is not a CPH publication, advance orders will be necessary if you'd like to have a copy of her book. The cost will be $12.10 and you may pick up your book at the Luncheon. Let Lucie know if you're interested in ordering a copy of Gayle's book. LUTHERAN HOUR MINISTRIES
